Ancient Israel and the U.S.A.

Once upon a time, there was a country, ancient Israel, that had been singularly founded by and blessed by God –

just like America.

Israel sinned against God repeatedly –

just like America.

God had been merciful and forgiving to Israel, over and over again –

just like America.

What is the real issue?

My brother sent me a link to an article that urges us to vote for McCain in order to keep Obama out of the White House. For me, this race is not about winning or losing. It’s not about politics or electing the least of a number of evils. We are electing the person who will direct the policies of the United States of America for at least four of the most critical years in our history.

I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. This Word says “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34) Can those who believe this statement from the Almighty vote for a leader who is admittedly a lesser of evils? Those Christians who vote for McCain are saying with their actions that godliness in government is nice, but not necessary; that the approval of the Almighty is OK, but not essential for the blessing of America.

I do not agree with Mr. Huckabee in several political particulars. But I do agree with every statement that he has made that has any relationship to righteousness or godliness and their places in government. I have voted for the lesser of evils, but in those races there was no one better. This time around there is a righteous, godly man running for President — and it ain’t John McCain.

I can stand unashamed before the Almighty with Huckabee ballot in hand. Can you stand before Him with your McCain ballot? What else matters?

Election 2008 — Good Versus Evil

Obama not salutingA friend sent me this picture. It reminds me of the saying “What you are doing speaks so loud that I can’t hear what you are saying.” This election, more than any other that I can remember is a “good versus evil” contest.

Marriage strike?

In these days where women can divorce their husbands for no legitimate reason, denying daddies the right to rear their own children and using child support judgments to ruin them financially, some men are fighting back.  Having suffered from this, I want to link to a site that proposes that laws might be reformed if men refuse to marry and have children.

Before a Christian votes, he must consider…

In the conscience and heart of a Christian, and the remnant of a Christian nation, there is the natural and requisite commitment to principle, morality and the Holy Spirit that must guide our votes and our nominations. We are responsible before God for each and every endorsement that we make via the ballot, because each ballot represents the sovereign authority of our nation. It is without conscience for a Christian to cast a vote for someone who one knows will enact evil law, because the authority one deputizes to an evil person, via one’s suffrage, is an act of physically empowering wickedness. Giuliani, Romney, etc., are all absolute disgraces for a Christian to vote for, and I would never consider it. — Andrew Longman in World Net Daily

Democracy Countdown

The things spelled out on this page is one of the reasons that our founding fathers gave us a republic rather than a democracy — to stop this cycle. We have denied the republic in favor of a democracy. That’s why we’re in trouble.

A Health Care Alternative

We can complain about health care in the United States and elsewhere, but I think that when we don’t like something, we should at least try to solve the problem. I, personally, believe that the Federal Government should be completely out of the health care business, for the Constitution doesn’t authorize it. The Government doesn’t have a good track record at solving business problems anyhow. The Government isn’t going to get out of the health care business, so I offer what I consider to be a compromise solution. I’m sure it will work.

While writing my solution to the American health care crisis, I kept in mind that other countries might also benefit from a similar solution, so I worded my essay accordingly.
