Qualifying for A Wife

I have two male Christian friends who are single. Both would like to marry. Observing my marriage, one of them asked me if I’d considered doing marriage counseling. While I wouldn’t reject doing such a thing outright, I consider that the success of my marriage has at least as much to do with my wife as with me.

I have some understanding of why my marriage is successful and I’ve heard my friends say things that really should be addressed. I decided to write to them, because what I have to say is generally applicable to both.

Government jobs — solution for unemployment?

Why does the government (any government) collect taxes? The answer should be obvious. Government cannot create money. To get money, government must take it from someone who creates it.  You cry, “Foul! The government creates money all the time.”  No, the government prints money.

Thorns

This is a story to make one think… I got it in an email, but think it’s worth sharing with as wide an audience as possible.

Sandra felt as low as the heels of her shoes when she pulled open the florist shop door, against a November gust of wind. Her life had been as sweet as a spring breeze and then, in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a “minor” automobile accident stole her joy. This was Thanksgiving week and the time she should have delivered their infant son. She grieved over their loss. Troubles had multiplied.

I want to move to Texas

The following declaration has been making the email rounds.  This isn’t the first time I’ve seen it.  Some take what it says seriously and others regard it as just wishful thinking.  I take it seriously.  One of my brothers sent it to me this time.  I wanted to give him a thoughtful, realistic, Christian response.  After the original text of this declaration is my reply to my brother and to all who call themselves Christians.

Vision from a Pastor in Germany

One of my Digg friends sent me an email with a prophecy from a pastor in Berlin, Germany.  I’m sharing it with you, but I want to give you my take on it first.  I’m a bit skeptical of modern day “prophecies” because so many of them are private opinion presented as from the Lord.  (I guess that this is so that others dare not argue with them.)  What I look for when presented with a message that purports to be a prophecy is consistency with Scripture.  This prophecy passes that test.

Constitution unconstitutional?

The people of California, through a direct vote made a law.  Judges of the California Supreme Court decided that the law violated the rights of a small minority.  (It is supposed that the California Constitution spells out what rights the people have, but I don’t know which of those rights were violated.)  The people of California were emphatic, embedding into the Constitution itself what their will is.

And those same “justices” are now going to determine whether the vote that declared their declaration of the law to be unconstitutional is now in the Constitution are going to decide whether or not the Constitution is constitutional.  Arg-g-gh!  Oh, what a tangled web we weave…

Declaration of Independence

There has been the suggestion that it may become necessary for Constitutional Americans to form a new government.  (See Joseph Farah’s column and my earlier post.)

With this in mind, I have updated the preamble to the Declaration of Independence.  I have brought the language up to date from 18th century English and have modified it for present circumstances.  I am asking readers to help me complete the document.  This may be done in two ways:

Kwitchurbellyachin

I’m reading a lot of columns that tell us how badly things would go for a lover of American style freedom under an Obama administration.

It is a good thing to try to frighten people about what an Obama administration would bring. The fact is that the possibility of a Socialist States of America is a very real possibility. Socialism lite is already a part of our governmental policy, even though it is unconstitutional.

The question is, “What are you going to do about it?” Bellyache? Cry? Some (including me) are talking about setting up a new national government — secession. I’ve seen a lot of naysayers who claim that it can’t be done. If you believe that something can’t be done, then you won’t try to do it or support those who are trying. So you are back to bellyaching.

Submit yourselves to God. Seek His will in every detail of your life. Then live your life in faith, not in fear. The Bible says that the fearful are among those who will not inherit the kingdom of God. Then claim the freedom that God gives.

Prayers for Living

I have prayed many prayers in my sixty plus years’ walk with my Lord Jesus.  Some of them stand out in my memory because the answers to them have been more important than I realized at the time that I first prayed them.  Additionally, I have had greater understanding of the wisdom in them.  Maybe praying them will be of help to you.

It Didn’t Happen

I went public, very public, with a speculation that didn’t turn out as I thought that it might. Now, I’m asking myself (and you) whether I should have published a speculation where I was not sure of the outcome? In my publication, I said that I was not sure. The reason that I published my thoughts on the matter was that the stakes are high. Here’s a summary of the issue.
